Here at My Agency we fully encourage out of hours ventures (broadening cultural awareness and all that). So we love what Ellie Offord, a member of our design team is up to. She is the co-founder of ShellsuitZombie. Here’s some info on what it’s all about in her own words.
ShellsuitZombie is a small organisation with one simple aim: to kindle the love between graduates and the creative industry.
We at SSZ graduated with degrees in design, big hopes of getting into design/advertising and little in the way of experience or clue. Two years on and we've collectively (deep breath) been hired eleven times, lost two jobs, worked in London and Paris, freelanced for some great and awful clients for some and no money, lived in 18 different houses, bought seven bicycles, made a ton of mistakes and learnt a hell of a lot along the way.
Whilst living this experience we set up ShellsuitZombie. Why? We wanted to share our stories (both ugly and pretty) to demonstrate how and why we persevered along the rollercoaster in the search of our dream jobs.
What does ShellsuitZombie do?
We hold events putting grads and industry under the same (informal) roof. Previous events have involved live bands, competitions for placements, interviews on a rickshaw, live speed briefs and usually a fair few beers.
We feature work from small student projects to million dollar famous art director types on our blog, putting everyone on a level playing field. This often proves that the key is a good idea and you don't have to throw £££ at a project to make damn good work.
We have our very own magazine featuring a mixture of light-hearted fun and deep and meaningful discussions and interviews. Currently working on issue two at SSZ towers.
